Master Plan

Reading time

A master plan is a special element of a scenario designed to determine the relative location of buildings in relation to each other and to the cardinal points. The master plan can also include building structures and other elements necessary for calculations that are not logically related to buildings. For example, walls, cars in nearby parking lots, nearby green spaces (forests), and others.

The relative position of buildings must be known to perform calculations to justify fire safety distances between buildings. For these purposes, we also recommend using the source of fire that is set through the “On fire” object property.

Buildings on the master plan view are displayed as simplified three-dimensional models. A simplified model is low-detail and consists of figures outlining the number of floors in the building and some topology inside.

Adding a master plan to the project

To add a master plan, click the button in the control panel. The Master Plan element will appear in the scenario tree.

If there were already buildings in the scenario before adding the master plan, their simplified models will be added to the master plan.

Adjusting the location of buildings on the master plan

To adjust the location of buildings on the master plan, follow these steps:

  1. If needed, import a Floor Background Image by right-clicking on the master plan in the scenario tree and selecting the option of the same name.
  2. In the scenario tree, expand the Master Plan item and select the desired building model.
  3. Change the position of one building’s thumbnail relative to another building’s thumbnail using the Pointer tool . For precise editing, we recommend using click-and-drag marks outlining the selected item and matching the background image lines.
  4. If needed, rotate the building miniatures using the Rotate tool.
